MRI after first round of Chemo
(Bridgette here)
On Wednesday, Meme had her first MRI after this first, of possibly three, rounds of chemotherapy. We had the suspicion that the tumor was retreating because over the past two weeks Mom has been able to blow her nose AND breath out of her left nostril. Apparently the tumor had been blocking the nasal cavity.
Mom's oncologist told her today that there had been a "significant reduction" in the size of the tumor. Another terrific sign is that Mom's white blood cell count is off the charts, "superb"!
We'll let you in on the secret to her success another time. Actually, maybe she'll write a book about it. Ah, but those with pictures or comments on this website will get a free signed copy.
Currently Mom is too busy to write. Sally is in town from Alaska and Tom says they're out tooling around in the sunshine.
This coming week Mom will have her second round of chemotherapy. It is hoped that perhaps the tumor margins will be great enough that a third round won't be needed.
Mom tm'ed me and said that she'd be "sheared" tonight. They say that the hair falls out between the 10th and 12th day so mom's hair is obeying. We picked out a wig two weeks ago and I'm busy sewing some fancy head scarves.
Kristen will be arrive in Florida on Wednesday in time to go to the second chemo appointment with mom on Thursday. The first three days are the roughest - lots of nausea and exhaustion.
We've found an organic vegan cook in Orlando who will cook fresh organic vegan food and drop it off at the house. Kristen will work on meal planning while she's with mom and probably cook some herself. She's a great cook!
Keep the comments coming!

So "there she blows" - I will keep envisioning her blowing with very soft pink tissues with pretty spring flowers printed on each. (Meme will understand that)
Love and kisses,
Cindy, etal
Prayers and love to all...

Hope that chemo went ok for you today.
You told me on the phone that you wanted some postings that will induce a laugh or two so I am going to give it a try.
A couple of weeks ago I was in San Antonio visiting Olivia (age 5). Livvy and i slept to gether and in the morning we were in bed laughing and talking and suddenly she looked at me and said "Nana, you are getting older." I said "Yes honey, every year Nana get a year older." Then I wondered what made her say that so I foolishly asked her "Why do you think Nana is getting older," She lifted up her little hand and put it on my face and said "Nana, you have cracks." Out of the mouths......
By the way, I have to comment on what a wonderful job the girls did putting together this blog. Job well done.
Also, could you send me your email address as david has some very "funny" stuff for you that probably should not be posted on the blog.
Love you,
Mary Ellen
