Hi MC! Your friends from Texas here, wishing you well. ME is obviously shocked and saddened that you have to go through this. However, I remember 4 years ago, when you held my hand and massaged my fingers, mind, and soul. Remember? We I do. Vividly. Then remember when you drove with me to my radiation? Remember how they told me I would be dead in three months? Well, GUESS what? They all were wrong! Four years out now and I'm living proof that you and your kindness did a bunch for me. Motivated me. Relaxed me. Took the pressure off ME. Remember?

Well, all I can say is thanks, that we'll be praying for you. Yeah, I still have that candle I used. Will haul that dude right out and light the thing up tonight. And remember one thing else that I used as my mantra during my own ordeal, and I want you to use as well: KICK BUTT!

The 3rd MRI results are in. The cancer is gone. You heard me. Packed up and left. Flew the coop. Tell it while you're walkin'. According to the radiologist and Dr. O'Malley, "there's no evidence of cancer." A PET scan will be done this Friday to confirm results of the MRI. While MC will still need proton radiation to ensure that no individual cancer cells remain, there will be no anterior craniotomies happenin' in this here family. Instead, MC will have outpatient endoscopic sinus surgery to take a few biopsies for safe measure and clean out her sinuses which, unrelated to the SNUC, have been clogged for years. More to come from the superhero herself......

Finally, a decision

Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida. Tom and I leave Sunday for a meeting with them on Wednesday. After a CAT scan, it will take them 2 weeks to get everything arranged and i wi...
