Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida. Tom and I leave Sunday for a meeting with them on Wednesday. After a CAT scan, it will take them 2 weeks to get everything arranged and i wi...

It's Jeff, your red headed Philadelphia friend. Of course you are supremely adorable with a red haired wig, how could it be otherwise!
I am so glad to hear your spirits are being kept up (and that Tom is catching the spirit of the new technology by learning to use the juicer!)
I've been thinking about you a lot and wanted you to know I honestly tried very hard to visualize all the images you asked us to conjure up for creating platelets and the like...I really did.
I would close my eyes and attempt to keep my mind situated in one direction but somewhere along the path I would get distracted by the little woodland creatures:
There they are coming over for a picnic, frolicking through the underbrush, carrying their own dishware, which somehow turned into tupper ware, which quickly became the plastic red lunch boxes my mom used to make me take to school when I was in 2nd grade containing the same soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwich every single day, the jelly completely soaking through the Roman Meal whole wheat bread and the co-op peanut butter sticking to the waxed paper she wrapped it in.
By this point I would be totally off topic and try as I might to re-focus the little woodland elves would simply pay me no mind and begin dancing around the little patch of flowers I eventually sat down in and I could never get them to quit singing for a minute, mostly in high pitched operatic voices...
I know my job wasn't to free associate, but I can't help but skip from topic to topic and I am sorry about that. I meant well. Honestly I hope I wasn't more of a detriment to you than help!
Speaking of singing, I have been in a recording studio all day (which is where I am right this moment) recording a little 11 year old student of mine and this rock and roll song he wrote. Here is his chorus,
"Sometimes you think you're terrible, but you are REALLY incredible..."
It would make you laugh and smile quite a lot, it's pretty adorable actually, though not as adorable as a red wig I am certain!
Jeff
Okay, one more technology leap you'll need to take. Use the digital camera, have Tom take a photo of you in the red wig and ...well, to make it easy...email it to me and I'll add it to your blog.
You can't just write RED WIG and not include a photo!
I'll put one up of Shirley Temple by the end of the day if you don't email me a real photo! Hey, you tap too, don't you?
Oohhhh, I see where this is going!
love you the world,
Bridgette
I agree with Bridgette. You cannot write about having a red wig with no picture. What's up with that? Go Bridgette!!!! lets see that Shirley Temple Picture. And you know how to tap? Wow, I am liking this blog. Learning more about you every week.
Good luck tomorrow with round 3. I will be thinking about you as well as the rest of Kids First.
Love and prayers you way,
Pat
