Well, I FINALLY heard back from the U of P after many interventions on my behalf by Kristen. Seems they were all duly impressed with the tumor response but do want me to have a 3rd chemo, which i will have 3:30 on Monday. I really expected them to say this, why take a chance, huh? But thought I would give it a shot anyway.

Tom has been taught how to use the juicer and how much of each vegetable to include. So now all I need to do is to remember to drink one gallon of liquid on days one and two to minimize s/e. I will try to have an accupuncture tx on sat aimed at decreasing nausea and headache and I should be home free. We are going kayaking and to an arts festival this weekend. So all is as well as can be. I hope you have a wonderfully happy weekend and I'll be in touch later. Love to you all and thank you a million times over for your emails, comments and phone calls. I miss you terribly even though it is lovely to be home again. It feels like spring is just around the corner but we all know that it is at least 6 weeks away. The air is so clean and fresh. Larry and Lucy are well and happy to see me.
I am so glad you got the RED wig. You looked so adorable and I know that it makes you laugh out loud, smiling all the while on the inside too.
Everyone here asks of you and wants you to know that you are always in their hearts and prayers.
Bob and Susan are coming for dinner tomorrow with their 2 1/2 year old grandson. He is such a joy to be with. Larry made him new hats when he made yours and made him a new fleece pillow that he carries with him everywhere. Lucy will be so excited to see him again. I have never seen a cat that liked children as much as she does.
I'm sending big hugs and remember - I am only a plane ride away.

The 3rd MRI results are in. The cancer is gone. You heard me. Packed up and left. Flew the coop. Tell it while you're walkin'. According to the radiologist and Dr. O'Malley, "there's no evidence of cancer." A PET scan will be done this Friday to confirm results of the MRI. While MC will still need proton radiation to ensure that no individual cancer cells remain, there will be no anterior craniotomies happenin' in this here family. Instead, MC will have outpatient endoscopic sinus surgery to take a few biopsies for safe measure and clean out her sinuses which, unrelated to the SNUC, have been clogged for years. More to come from the superhero herself......

Finally, a decision

Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida.
