The Lip Sniffer
(Kristen here) While we wait for the latest MRI and PET results, here's some entertainment from Berkeley, CA.
I've been fostering 2 baby goats that we rescued from slaughter when they were 2 days old. They are now one month and, to my chagrin, still bottle feeding (10 - 12 bottles/day/goat). Only 8 more weeks to go; although, they are beginning to try a bit of alfalfa now and then. We go for evening strolls and the neighbors have grown accustomed to seeing 2 wee little creatures prancing and bucking behind me.
(For background: goat dairy farms have little use for male kidds as only a few are needed to keep the females impregnated. Every breeding season dairy farms slaughter and/or sell the male babies. Typically, the kidds are bought for a quick cheap meal for the low low price of $6. There were 20 males that were going to slaughter at the farm we visited; all 20 were rescued. The two that we have will go to a nice rich lady in Sonoma who will keep them as companion animals for her horses. Lucky goats.)
The little white one - Albert - is an Alpaca. Manfrom, the caramel dude, is a La Mancha.
