Hi MC,
"frosted blond outdated wedge"...I don't know why, but that description of yours regarding your old haircut made me a little uncomfortable. Maybe it was just the "wedge" part, it reminds me of lettuce, which, by the way, always makes me feel a little funny when I read on a menu that I could just possible have a wedge of iceburg lettuce if I so so desire. A wedge or lettuce, a wedge of hair, oh my god, what next? Frankly I can't think of anything else that be described as a wedge...oh wait, a wedge of cheese, or a wedge of cake. Is it only food that is referred to in this manner? No, it can't be, a wedge of pie, shoot, that's food.

Did you have Carvel icecream in these here parts a long time ago? Wedgie the Whale was an icecream cake...no, that's not right, it was Fudgie the Whale, and Wedgie the...dang, I can't remember. But it was certainly not, "Wedgie, the frosted blond outdated hair style" that much I am sure of!

Glad you are having a great time visiting all the kids in the fam. I just got back from San Fran, a couple of days ago, had dinner with Kris and William. Kris really made me laugh a lot, she reminds me so much of Bridgette, though without the unpredictable look in her eye that at any moment she might haul off and punch me right in the nose!

(though I suppose there is the fact that she just doesn't know me as well!)

The 3rd MRI results are in. The cancer is gone. You heard me. Packed up and left. Flew the coop. Tell it while you're walkin'. According to the radiologist and Dr. O'Malley, "there's no evidence of cancer." A PET scan will be done this Friday to confirm results of the MRI. While MC will still need proton radiation to ensure that no individual cancer cells remain, there will be no anterior craniotomies happenin' in this here family. Instead, MC will have outpatient endoscopic sinus surgery to take a few biopsies for safe measure and clean out her sinuses which, unrelated to the SNUC, have been clogged for years. More to come from the superhero herself......

Finally, a decision

Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida. Tom and I leave Sunday for a meeting with them on Wednesday. After a CAT scan, it will take them 2 weeks to get everything arranged and i wi...
