Having a busy fun time

OH my gosh it's been so long since I've signed in.and so much has happened. I have been to 'ca twice to see Lara and andy and Cecelia and then I spent a week with kristen in berkeley around her birthday. In sept. i spent 2 weeks in michigan visiting siblings and friends, put 3,000 miles on the car. Life is sweet i feel well and i've started back to work with the agency, things are feeling quite normal. That is such a wonderful feeling, Normal, so unappreciated. Today i head to our house in florida for three weeks and come home dec 11th.
January brings a total body PET scan and some minor surgery to clear up some scar tissue on the right side. I wish you a beautiful Thanksgiving and Christmas and if you''e checked this blog spot I offer my deepest gratitude for your tenacity..........Love MC

Hi MC. I am glad to see that you are feeling so good and normal...and 3,000 miles on the car, that's some good traveling! I'm sorry we didn't meet up in Berkley, but there was a lot going on (a lot of me getting out of the house and away from my sister and my mom, that is! ha ha.) Arden is loving having a baby and my folks are really enjoying being grandparents. I don't feel much different being an Uncle, I have to admit. There's a good reason to move to Cali.

Well, have a nice holiday with everyone and please bring some Florida sunshine with you when you come back (though I'm not sure if you actually have any control over that) we could use some nice weather up here.

The 3rd MRI results are in. The cancer is gone. You heard me. Packed up and left. Flew the coop. Tell it while you're walkin'. According to the radiologist and Dr. O'Malley, "there's no evidence of cancer." A PET scan will be done this Friday to confirm results of the MRI. While MC will still need proton radiation to ensure that no individual cancer cells remain, there will be no anterior craniotomies happenin' in this here family. Instead, MC will have outpatient endoscopic sinus surgery to take a few biopsies for safe measure and clean out her sinuses which, unrelated to the SNUC, have been clogged for years. More to come from the superhero herself......

Finally, a decision

Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida.
