ALL CLEAR TODAY

So her we are.... the PET/CAT scans were negative in january. I had a little surgery to clear out some scar tissue in my nose, so i'm breathing out of BOTH sides now. Next check up in 3 months!!!! I'm CA playing with Andy and Ccelia and next week I'll be in FLA playing with the big kids. I have a friend whose husband had brain cancer and is recovering. Gave her a juicer and all the recipes I used, and still use everyday. I'm hoping it will give him the energy and strength it gave me. Of course wonderful family and friends can give enormous amounts of strength and energy too. Love to all, MC

Hey MC, I understand you came by the old neighborhood, a couple of weeks ago. While I appreciate your telling Bev the house looked nice, there's always more to do!

Hope you continue to do well. I had a friend on EMU's campus who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4Liver and Lung cancer. Her name is Pam Graves. I too sent her your blog. Don't know if she will sign on or not. She's a wonderful human being but very private. Bev said it was odd for anyone to have two primary site cancers, and I guess those two are. Oh well! I emailed her today and told her not to despair, I guess she starts heavy duty chemo next week, and told someone she could buy herself a year with it, 5-6 months without. I'm sure telling someone not to despair is easy when you aren't living their life, but I do hope she keeps soldiering on.

The 3rd MRI results are in. The cancer is gone. You heard me. Packed up and left. Flew the coop. Tell it while you're walkin'. According to the radiologist and Dr. O'Malley, "there's no evidence of cancer." A PET scan will be done this Friday to confirm results of the MRI. While MC will still need proton radiation to ensure that no individual cancer cells remain, there will be no anterior craniotomies happenin' in this here family. Instead, MC will have outpatient endoscopic sinus surgery to take a few biopsies for safe measure and clean out her sinuses which, unrelated to the SNUC, have been clogged for years. More to come from the superhero herself......

Finally, a decision

Hi, I'm back from the perfect vacation at the perfect time. I enjoyed the sun, the beach, kayaking, and never gave a thought to the other. Good thing, because when I got home and saw the Dr. at Penn, he of course identified the next step as radiation and chemo. When I asked if instead of doing that he would be willing to "follow me" - after all he can take a little scope and go up and look around quite easily - he said that he would, but would prefer that i have more surgery to remove the dura separating the sinus from the brain, go up and sample the brain and build a new dura. Then he would watch me monthly. After much hemming, hawing, talking with friends who have had cancer, a cancer coach, and an alternative cancer specialist, I have decided to go ahead with the proton radiation and cisplatin chemo for a 6 week period in Florida.
